Every day you can lay down and sunbath, but Curaçao has so much more to offer. On your vacation, you'll never get bored.

To visit

Landhuis Ascension
Landhuis Ascension
The country houses (landhuizen) are beautiful.  Not all are open for visiting.  Recommended is Landhuis Ascension on the western part of the island. The first Sunday of the month it is open to the public.

Museums such as the Curacao's museum and the museum in Kura Hulanda give a good picture of Curacao and his history.  The old synagogue Mikve Israel-Emanuel in Punda is worth visiting. 

 
 
Nature

On the west side is the national park, St.Christoffelpark. There are several routes that are accessible by car. Walking is also possible, sometimes with a guide. The ascent of the St.Christoffelberg is an experience, but start on opening of the park otherwise the temperature will be too hot. Take icewater with you.

Near the airport are  Cueba di Hato , the caves of Hato. Instead of going down over her you have to climbed the stairs to reach the entrance. The cave tour is led by a guide.

On the north coast the rough sea comes ashore. At Boca Tabla on the west side of the island this is very nice visible in an underground cave. If you go there , visit Boca Pistol  a mile to the east to experience the power of the sea. Note: don't go in the water, it is very dangerous. 
 
Animals

Near country hous Jan Kok, there are flamingos in the saltpans in the wild. Goats (kabritu) and donkeys (buriku) run freely on the island, but stewed goat (stoba) at Plasa Bieuw in Punda is a delicious meal. Iguana are also eaten, usually in the soup, (sopi yuana).

In captivity animals you can visit the zoo, the ostrichfarm and underwaterworld in the  Seaquarium. The ostrichfarm is fun for a visit and just around the corner. The seaquarium is very nice, but somewhat costly. The Dolfin-academy over there is world famous.

 
Diving

Underwater Curacao is even more beautiful and varied. Diving from the beach is everywhere possible, there are cruises for divers to the underwaterpark. There are many diveshops where equipment can be rented and airbottles can be filled. There are also diving courses to accomplish a PADI certificate in a short time . We have good experience with diving school Wederfoort at Boca St.Michiel.


Should anything go wrong, the St. Elisabeth hospital has a decompression chamber and experienced personnel.

 
 
Swimming and snorkeling

On the south side of the whole island, there are bays where swimming and snorkelling is possible. Some bays ask for a small entrance fee. For this fee the beach is maintained and there are often toilet and shower facilities. The beaches are of sand, stone or coral. The sea is easily accessible from the beach . The water is very pleasant, the right temperature, light waves and hardly any difference between high and low tide.
