It is possible to walk to the north coast on small traks. On the adjacent estate Koraal Tabak is Sint Joris Baai. It is possible to swim in the bay but it is not beautiful clear blue water as in the other bays of Curaçao. The estate is private property, but accessible. It is a very good terrain for mountain bikes. |
|
Barbara Beach The sea is less than a mile away and visible from the house. The northside of the island is not suitable for swimming, the sea is too rough and very dangerous. Exception is Playa Kanoa, a quiet bay where surfing is possible.
The nearest bays on the south side of the island are Mambo Beach, Baya Beach, Jan Thiel Beach and Barbara Beach (all paid), Mari Pompoen and Caracas Bay (free). They are east of the town center and are within 15 to 20 minutes by car. The beautifull Barbara Beach is currently closed due to construction activities.
Hooks Hut On the west side of the center Hooks Hut is a must. Also verry pleasant in the evening to have diner on the beach (reservations required). |

Big supermarkets are Centrum, located on the Schout bij Nacht Van Staverenweg at about 7 miles, Mangusa at the Schottegatweg North and Esperamos at the Jan Noordduynweg. They are open until 20:00, and on Sunday until 13:00. |
